Recovery Seeds … Remove Toxins from Your Body

Recovery Seeds for December 2010

Tuesday, December 21

Our lymphatic system is designed to help rid our body of toxins.   When we are inactive, our lymphatic system doesn’t function properly, and toxins build up.

During times of stress, overindulgence, and inactivity, it’s important to make an extra effort to be active each day.

If you aren’t able, or aren’t motivated to go out for even a 10 minute walk, you can also stimulate your lymphatic system with steam.

Boil water in a pot.  Set the pot on a table, and sit comfortably.  Make a tent over your head with a towel, so that the steam from the pot rises toward your face, being careful not to be burned by the steam.  You may need to create a little vent to let some of the very hot steam escape.  Breathe the steam as deeply as possible … past your stomach, down to the depth of your gut.  Exhale slowly, and then take another deep breath … try inhaling even deeper this time, down to your pubic bone.  Draw the steam in as deeply as possible.  I find that sitting as upright as possible, with my legs apart so that my sitting bones are solidly on the chair helps with deeper breaths.  Keep shifting until you feel the depth.

As the steam cools, you’ll be able to take it more deeply.  Hold it for a moment, and exhale, then push out a little more air, and a little more, and a little more, until your lungs are empty.  Continue deep breathing and complete exhaling for as long as you can comfortably do so.

You’ll likely get steamy and sweaty … enjoy the feeling.  Know that your pores and lungs are doing their good work, sweat and steam are cleansing.  Know that your sinuses and lymphatic system are now more well than they were before you began.

I’m wishing you wellness and tender, healing nourishment,
Take good care,
