Catching Up With An Old Friend

Spring at Duke Gardens

Sitting in front of the blank screen tonight feels something like meeting a friend I haven’t seen in a long time for coffee.  Very familiar, and happy to be face to face … and knowing that after the initial catching up, it will be just like old times.

I have so missed writing.  I’ve stepped to the screen so many times, and each time, something happens … time, technology, geography … planetary alignment, solar flares … the list goes on … always something … and just like coffee with an old friend, I step in thinking that I have to catch up on absolutely everything in 10 minutes.

Tonight I give myself permission to say, “No, Jane, you don’t … just stop by for a chat.  Give and receive a warm hug, and let go of expectations.”  And so I will.

The gallery and studio are open, and they are wonderful … bigger than dreams come true.  Being close to my son, my sisters, my parents, is an amazing gift.  I am so grateful to be in a space that allows me to meet and share a path with such beautiful people every single day … clients, family, and new friends.

Sorry about the delayed springtime for those of you in Virginia, but God knew I needed a couple of snowfalls before moving into the next season.  The snow was simply beautiful, and now we can move on to warm sunshine and tulips!

Staying with our wishes and dreams, and giving them the space they need to come to life and take shape takes time.  Now my days pass quickly, and they melt into weeks.  Each day brings fresh ideas, new wishes and dreams … and at the same time, absolute center, gratitude, and knowing that all is well, all is absolutely perfect this moment, for me … and for you.

And so it is …

With love, gratitude, and wishes for a heart full of peace,

  1. Hi Jane.
It has been a hectic weekend and a hectic week ahead of me has my head spinning. When I feel the stress coming on, I will think about your closing wishes for a heart full of peace. Nothing would make me happier.

  2. I love the name of your blog. 🙂 I’m glad you got to have the snowfall and can peacefully flow into warmer Spring weather now. I am so happy that you are downtown and are bringing us this gift of your presence. I’m glad to be one of those new friends you speak of and I look forward to seeing you again really soon. In fact, I’ll see you Wednesday night.

    • So glad to see you here, Lisa! I am happy and grateful to be ‘home’ and back in Roanoke after a beautiful visit to Raleigh this weekend (wish you could see Duke Gardens … they are absolutely gorgeous right now!). The name of my blog came from my dear friend, Ana, who lives in Seville … I’ll try to post a link to an early blog post that tells a little about the name.
I’m looking forward to seeing you again on Wednesday.

Just to say it was nice of you to pop-in! I often think of you with fondness, you remain on my blog roll and when you came to the top this morning my heart skipped! So glad your dreams are coming true! x

    • Awww, hey Sue! I’m always so happy to see your name! I think of you, too, and send so many prayers for you and your family today. Right now I’m thinking of that gorgeous photo of someone (you, or your daughter maybe?) standing on top of a hay bale, with the rays of sunshine all around. I love that one … I think it was taken after a snow storm on a cold day ~
I’ll hop over and see what you’re creating these days … thank you for stopping by!
      Hugs to you dear ~
      Jane
