Practicing Peace in a Wash of Blue

Even in our most perfect circumstance, even when we know we are home … roots cross our path.  We can choose to drag our toes across, or to step a bit higher.  We can ignore the roots, or we can stop to touch the tender moss … silently creeping its way to the sunlight.

Today I am here, amongst the roots, deciding how I will be.  I choose to relish in the moss and soak up the sunshine.

One word floats through my mind over and over, as it has for days now.  Shanti ~ the precious and ancient Sanskrit word meaning Peace.

I will eventually paint this on a wall in my home … so decided to make a practice piece on wood.

As I sketched and painted in my most serene blue, and my clearest white, my pencil and brush felt as ancient as this word … Shanti.  It is washed, and sketchy, with pencil marks showing at the edges, and it is spiritually imperfect, just as the lines on my hands.

It was a beautiful practice, out in the sunshine. This piece is 12″ x 36″, on a lovely boxed birch canvas.  It is available for purchase. Please let me know if it speaks to you.  If you prefer a different color, I would be honored to create a meditative Shanti piece for you, in the color of your choice.

Peace among the roots. Sunshine among the wildflowers.

Take special good care of you,
