Another Piece of Healing, Along My Path to Wholeness

Great Smokie Mountains

It has been a busy few weeks ~ most recently, I spent a few days in the mountains of eastern Tennessee with my family.  It was a lovely time together, and I began this post on Monday morning.  Didn’t quite finish it before everyone came rushing back in the door from ‘the pancake house’ … so I’m just getting back to posting it.

Thought I’d better go ahead and share it … so here ya go ~

Good morning, love ~

Today is my father’s 80th birthday.  Much of our family is gathered here in this beautiful vacation home in celebration.  Most everyone else has gone to ‘the pancake house’ for breakfast.  I’m here with a bowl of scrambled eggs, hot tea, a warm fire, and the Great Smokey Mountains just on the other side of the window.  My son is asleep in the bedroom below where I write.  We are the only two in the house.  The morning rain hints at canceling our zipline adventure and the boys golf outing for today.  All is well.

The studio is now 8 months old.  I love it, every single day.  At the same time, there are days when I don’t quite have the energy to do all that I ‘need’ to do … marketing, phone calls, emails, creating that which I love. My wish has been for more hours … more energy … more time.  Every day, my wish is for people I can support and serve.

This week I found out that I have Lyme Disease.  It wasn’t a surprise … of-course Annie and I have picked up lots of crawly friends on our hikes in the woods.  When a girl spends as much of her life outside as possible, she gets a tick from time to time.

Though I can’t say that I’m thrilled with the diagnosis, it could certainly be worse, and I find great hope.  I began my round of antibiotics last week.  Accompanied by a good session of acupuncture from my favorite doctor, probiotics, and potato starch (probiotics need lots to feed on while they’re repopulating).

I am grateful that Lyme isn’t contagious, and will likely jump start my higher self-care, and bring me back to learning, exploring, receiving … the place where many of us most actively engage in the art of self-care, most definitely ramping up the number of Healing Touch sessions I receive.  My prayer is that a single round of antibiotics (and gobs of self care) will do its powerful work.

My job is to rest when I need to, eat high quality food, use lots of healing modalities to support my mental, physical, and emotional well-being, say my prayers, and be in that place of living a healthy and vibrant life … even on days when I don’t quite feel like it.  Be there ~

I share this because I know too many people (mostly women ~ ) who have walked this road before me.  Some going on months or years of antibiotics ~ still so fatigued, so weary, in pain, and searching for answers.  Without pretending to know the answers, I am happy to share anything that I find helpful along the way.  My wish is only that it be of support to others, even if it’s simply a compassionate connection on a difficult day.

I came to the mountains this weekend in celebration, and at the same time, recovering from a pretty nasty virus … trying not to talk much, resting my vocal chords … keeping my distance.  We’ve had fun, wonderful food, a few tears, games of pool, “chicken feet”, funny stories, and most of all, a house so full of love and honor.  So healing to breathe this mountain air, and be surrounded with so many people that I love … always, I’m wishing the house could be still bigger, and the weekend could last still longer.

Wishing you peace, love, and connection with just the right people, just when you need it most ~
