Recovery Seeds … HALT, before you go there!

Recovery Seeds for December 2010

Monday, December 13

We can all have bad days from time to time.  There are times when we’re crabby, unreasonable, or irritable without even knowing why.

The next time you’re feeling frustrated and irritated with someone or something, consider kindly reminding yourself to “HALT”.

Are you:

  • Hungry
  • Angry
  • Lonely or
  • Tired ?

Part of your self care includes developing the ability to identify your needs.  If you’re hungry, angry, lonely, or tired, do your best to change your condition.  Grab a sandwich, or a nap … call a friend, or go to a support group.  You’ll likely find a new perspective after giving yourself the attention you need and deserve.

In addition, to your own self-care, I’ve found that a gentle reminder to a loved one to check their self care in these areas, can sometimes diffuse a potentially difficult situation.

” Sometimes I wake up grouchy, and sometimes I just let him sleep. ”  Unknown

I’m wishing you wellness and tender, healing nourishment,
Take good care,

Jane

Thank you so much for these. I look forward to them every day.

  2. Nice! I´ve been really aware of the HALT for my daughter, but wasn´t checking MY own needs. Will take care of myself more.
