Recovery Seeds … Resist the Sugar Trap This Season

Recovery Seeds for December 2010

Thursday, December 9

When someone mentions ‘watching their sugar’ we usually think about diabetes.  Sugar certainly presents clear dangers for diabetics.

We are smack in the middle of ‘sugar season’, as my doctor calls it.  The period between Halloween and New Years’ when sugar seems to be everywhere we turn.

Sugar has no nutritional value, no benefit for our bodies.  It is an inflammatory agent, increasing our pain stiffness, poor circulation, and decreasing our energy and ability to concentrate … to name a few.

Sugar contributes to increased symptoms for those who suffer from chronic pain and fatigue, fibromyalgia, lupus, Raynaud’s syndrome, and a host of other conditions.  I’m no doctor, but I’d be willing to bet that a pefectly healthy person would experience a variety of negative side effects from sugar.

My simple understanding is that our bodies are supplied with a certain amount of insulin.  Each time we intake sugar, our body sends part of the insulin reserve to balance out the sugar.  The more sugar we take in … candy, breads, alcohol, even sweetened vitamin drinks, causes a decrease in the insulin available to get us through life.  When the insulin is gone, we have to supply it artificially, which isn’t a pleasant thought for any of us.

Take good care, and watch your sugar this season.  You’ll feel better without it, and your pancreas will thank you.

” Amazingly, I searched for quite a while, and didn’t find a suitable quote for feeling better by avoiding sugar.  We are an addicted society. ” Yours truly … Jane

I’m wishing you wellness and tender, healing nourishment,
Take good care,

Jane
