Recovery Seeds for

December 2010

Friday, December 3

Heightened awareness leads us to discoveries about ourselves. We begin to see opportunities for change … even though in the beginning, the changes may seem too small to matter.

Is there one thing you can consider changing? One small thing that you might do, or see, differently in order to bring about a bit of relief from your difficulties?

Over the next couple of days, try giving yourself permission to do just one small thing for yourself that you wouldn’t have done one week ago.  The thing is up to you … you are the only one who knows which thing you need.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”  Lao-tse

I’m wishing you wellness and tender, healing nourishment,
Take good care,

Jane

Getting to the Root of the Matter

This week we’re just taking a little time to become familiar with the basics of recovery … heightening our awareness, and thinking about the root of our challenges.

Taking an inventory of the things that cause pain isn’t generally an enjoyable task.  Most of us would rather think about anything other than a difficult family situation or a chronic illness.

Even so, heightened awareness forces us to spend some time thinking honestly about the areas that need improvement. What is the root of the issue?  Avoidance?  Poor nutrition?  Fear?  An incurable disease?  The need to over-achieve?

Spend a little time considering the root of your pain.  Maybe, on a rare occasion, you’ll decide that there’s nothing that can be done to improve the situation … then again, maybe you’ll find that having a glimpse of the root of the problem begins to open a channel for change.

Just for today, consider that there might be a better way.

I’m wishing you wellness and tender, healing nourishment,
Take good care,

Jane

Be Aware of Your Pain

Pay attention to things that bring you pain, anxiety, or concern today.  Your body, mind, and spirit.  What’s nagging?  What do you continue to push to the back burner?

Begin a path of recovery by raising your awareness to the things that need your loving attention.  Is it a stiff aching joint, a resentment you’ve refused to face, a painful raw emotion?

For today, become aware of your pain.

I’m wishing you wellness and tender, healing nourishment,
Take good care,

Very insightful piece, calling people to face their reflected image, whatever it is. Thanks for a nice addition to your blog.

    • Some days the reflection is more clear than others, but always worthy of a look. This weekend I’ve been mindful of doing just one small thing differently. Yesterday I chose to go for a walk … it felt so good that I walked all the way up to the horse-pasture and so enjoyed ‘playing’ with the horses. Their muzzles were warm and soft, and they were incredibly friendly and playful with Annie. I laughed alot, and it made a huge positive impact on my day! (and one of the horses was wearing a pink and purple jacket, so that was extra nice!)
      🙂
      Love you!

By the way, I love the pomegranate seeds.

    • It took alot of searching, but I finally found the seeds that were just right for my December posts. I’ll find another for January. Maybe we can try pomegranate at Christmas (?) I had it some time ago, but don’t think I was ready for the flavor. Maybe next time I’ll be more open to liking them … it’s all about change, right 🙂
